Many of us have heard about exfoliation,
that exfoliation is good for our skin and that we should exfoliate….but why bother?
We’ve got enough to do when we get ready in the morning, and prepare for bed at night, do we really need to add another time consuming step?
In a word: YES! Because it is so beneficial for your skin (helping to clear acne and give skin a healthy glow) and actually not as laborious as it sounds.
The outer layer of our skin is constantly regenerating itself with new, fresh cells
Exfoliating helps to shed the old dying cells which can otherwise build up on oil prone skin, trapping dirt and clogging pores (a great combo for acne!)
And we only need to exfoliate twice a week or so (even once a week will improve the appearance of skin), otherwise it will irritate the skin, causing redness and possibly more breakouts.
Here are a couple of face scrubs to make yourself at home – apply them after washing your face at night, massaging into damp skin for a minute or so, using gentle circular motions and rinsing with warm water:
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons water
Combine all three ingredients together and store in a glass container.
Lemon & Salt Scrub
- 2 cups sea salt
- ¾ cup lemon juice
Combine both ingredients together to form a paste and store in a glass container.
